Absa
Closed Bank Accounts - Still receiving Statements

Business & Finance

On 27 June 2013 I closed my Platinum Cheque account with ABSA. This meant that I would no longer be able log onto ABSA internet banking, so I have no idea if the account was actually closed. I have a tiny little "Client Transaction Record" piece of paper though, which I received when I closed the account with a R0 balance but no real evidence that the account has actually been closed.
On 2013-08-19, I received, yet again, a Cheque Account Statement from ABSA, but in such a format that I cannot open it. So I have NO IDEA if I am in arrears for some interest/service fees on some outstanding balance calculated in the same fashion as it was done when I realized I was charged interest on interest on my Platinum Credit Card. Oh btw no confirmation whether the Platinum Credit Card was closed was ever communicated either.
CAN SOMEONE AT ABSA PLEASE ASSIST IN:
1. Providing confirmation that my EX-Platinum Cheque Account is closed as requested on 2013 06 27
2. Providing confirmation that the EX-Platinum Credit Card was closed
