I have been a client for almost 50 years and am disgusted at the way this mob treats customers. Unbeknown to me, a trade customer paid a largish cheque into our business bank account on the 24 Oct, instead of by the normal EFT transfer, in settlement of their debt. A few days later, a payment I made was returned by the bank, despite my account showing sufficient funds to cover it. Being away I had not accessed my account other than to check the balance on my phone, so I phoned the bank who eventually told me that the deposit made was in fact a cheque, which, unless special clearance was requested took 7 to 10 days to clear. On 31st of the month two amounts were transferred from the account by mag tape and despite an overseas payment effected by the bank days earlier, these two payments were reversed.
At no time did the bank attempt to contact me to warn of the impending reversal, they just went ahead and reversed the charges. Service? what a joke. Customer loyalty, worth nothing at all. Their claims of service and excellence - nonsense and should be taken up with the Advertising Standards Authority. Lack of space stops me from listing other examples of their arrogance.
