Absa
No evidence for rejection of claim

Business & Finance

At the time i bought the house, no cracks were visible on the floors or walls. A few months ago the house started cracking and I logged a claim at ABSA. It was inspected by their appointed inspector and without any proper investigation (ie soil samples, inspection of cracks) I were notify that my claim has been rejected based on poor workmanship (wrt the cracks that was accrding to them previousely repaired) and the settlement of the ground. I insisted on objective evidence the claim was rejected on. ABSA then send the same person again to come and redone the inspection? Soil samples were then taken. I were then again told that the claim has been rejected and they refuse to give me the report wrt to the soil analysis. I were told that the onus is on me to proof the opposite of their findings. I now need to get objective evidence to substantiate the opposite. I had, in the mean time, the house under pinned at 6 places. ABSA just claimed that the reason for the cracks were not covered in the policy. In short -Insurance payer= R50K, ABSA=R0. BE AWARE of the policy wording. ABSA will always ensure that their assessment (without proof) will include the words thats part of the exclusion
