Standard Bank
INCAPABABLE OF PROVIDING SOLUTIONS

Business & Finance

To put it simply, my Standard Bank cheque card expires in January.

I live in CT and my home branch (which I have tried unsuccessfully to change, is still in DURBAN).
I phone Standard Bank twice today (first time I was put through to International Money transfers: as if CT is another country) and have been told that I cannot request for my card to be ready for me at my Durban branch in late December. I thought it would be the most simple and logical thing to do as I am there from the 20th until the 30th.

They say I must call back on December 15 and they will tell me if it will be ready by 20 December.

If its not, then I have to wait to until January to be notified RE: new card sitting in Durban whereby I then have to request that they send it to CT (which will take 2 weeks).

By then, the card will probably have expired and caused no end of inconvenience.

I asked why it is not possible for a customer to request that their card be ready for them to collect from their home branch on the 20th of December when it expires in January??

Makes no sense and shows a lack of foresight and willingness to prevent problems and be pro-active with customer service.
