First National Bank
Not accepting responsibility for fault

Business & Finance

My wife was mugged and among others my wallet with bank card for my business account with FNB was. Before she could find a phone to let me know and stop my bank cards, an amount of R5000 was withdrawn from my account, with a chip and PIN without the PIN code. The PIN number was not written down or saved on her cellphone whatsoever, and PIN being seen was not an option, the incident occurred far from my usual suppliers where I regularly use my card, and after I handed my wallet to my wife she went forth in her vehicle, so being followed was also out of the question. I reported this case with FNB Wonderpark branch, closest to where the incident occurred, and when I followed up on the matter three weeks later, the case has been thrown out without my knowledge and with no feedback, stating FNB will not accept responsibility because the PIN was apparently used to withdraw the money. I oobjected, and received reply that the case has reached deadlock and will not receive any further attention. I thought being a "valued" customer with two business accounts and one platinum personal account my bank will protect me better, but it seems FNB can only "help you" when it suits them
