ABSA's home loan insurance claims service is horrendous. After a severe hailstorm in Benoni on the 8/11/2012 there was serious damage to my home (incl.2 skylights that were shattered). More than 80 days later all my damages have still not been sorted out.

Even getting them to send a claim form was a nightmare (it took them 2 weeks to send it) Long story short, they finally sent out an assessor that approved repair for all damages (early December). It is 30/01/2013 and nothing has been done.

I have even reported this case to actionline (ref.2197048) without success Cheradene (consultant handling my claim) contacted me that same afternoon (January 10th 2013) to assure me that my case will be resolved.

ABSA's lack of concern for the safety of their clients is disgusting. I have advised them that the 2 shattered skylights is a security risk for my family (I have 3 little children).. Apparently, this means nothing to them. Moreover, I have recently come to realize that ABSA has been overcharging for home insurance. Don't be fooled by the name of a big brand: their service levels are pathetic.
