I applied for a loan, after being contacted by African Bank; was approved for said loan (I am an existing customer already); signed the contracts after supplying supporting documents; was informed by the call centre the next day that the loan amount would be made available with 24-48 hours. But what actually ensued was the most miserable customer service experience surely even in the history of African Bank. I won't even get into all the shoddy customer service during that week. Suffice to say that after more than a week of chasing & trying to gain clarity on mixed messages being provided at branch & h/o level, I still have only the vaguest idea of what the problem is. If I understand it African Bank are claiming that I pay too much to UIF - apparently 100% contribution is something they can't wrap their head's around either. Really! When I asked for a written response so that I could clear up the issue I was told that the branches can't respond in writing (or to emails at all apparently - the 'customer service' email on their website is also incorrect btw). Days of trying to get hold of anyone at the complaints department has been to no avail: no one returns your calls. So poor!
