Handed over to attorneys before payment deadline

I have had two accounts with Standard Bank for a number of years. A while ago I lost my job. I informed Standard Bank as soon as I could not pay off my accounts. After a while, one account was handed to Legal Nexus for collection. I informed them too of my job situation.

After many months of unemployment, I have become gainfully employed again. Legal Nexus offered me a discount for a once-off settlement and I did that, at which time they sent me a settlement notice.

However, I just got a text informing me that my account has been handed over to R.L.Daly attorneys for legal action - surely this is not ethical? My outstanding account (credit card) is due to be paid for on the 26th of October, 2013. The date today is the 22nd, and I get paid on the 25th.

I would appreciate some kind of feedback from Standard Bank as to why they are jumping their own deadline, especially as I have not indicated that I will not be able to service the debt. What is going on, Standard Bank SA?
