Deceptive Advertising & Bad service

Business & Finance

After all the "switch to FNB" ads on the radio, I decided to switch from Absa to FNB. After all, everything they tell you on the radio about how easy it would be and off all the benefits, I thought it would be a simple hassle free process. Boy, was I wrong! FNB boasts that it would only take 9, 5 min to apply, but with it took me nearly 45 min as the website and directions were not user friendly at all. It took a week before the courier delivered by card. The courier couldn't find my office and I had to drive out to find him. He wouldn't take my documents that the bank requires, but I insisted that the ad says that my documents would be collected, so he took it with him. I got a call to tell me that my documents are wrong and after telling the caller to check again, I'm told they are fine. Next I get an SMS from FNB to tell me my R5000 overdraft application has been turned down. This after I was offered R18000 when I applied online. No reason was given, just a smiley face! After nearly 2 weeks of trying to switch, I have only experienced utter frustration and irritation and unhelpfulness from FNB. Definitely not what I would like from a bank and lost interest. FNB did NOT help me..
