Refused credit card because of many applications

I have applied for a credit card online yet am declined after i asked to be called back because online site said there is a problem, i tried a total of 9 times and am now 8 times over the limit allowed apparently, i have also done a couple of home loan enquiries and you will see this was done with fnb themselves aswell, i am a platinum card holder and this is the way i am treated? what kind of helping people is actually showing as i see alot of people are now complaining, i think i made the wrong choice to move to fnb.
