Premier Banking, what a waste of time

I called the premier banking suite to find out the reason a to why I don't receive bank statements seeing that this was not the first time I called in this regard. The previous time that I have called I had my bank debit card and everything with me and did all their security checks. They assured me that my email address etc has been updated and I would receive my bank statements via email.

Today when I called them again, I did not have my banking cards with me as it was in my car and I was in my office at work. I logged on into my online banking profile to get my latest bank statements just to find out that the bank statements on my account was outdated. So I called the Premier Banking Suite as to inquire why I didn't receive bank statements and why my email was wrong. I told the operator that I don't have my banking cards with me which he said is that it is no problem if I don't mind a manual verification process to which I replied fine.

After verification he could see what the problem was but he was unable to help me as I didn't had my banking card with me. My problem is that why do you ask me to complete a manual verification process just not to be able to help me in the end?
