Pay for a car i never owned

I am highly frustrated and dissapointed and after numerous calls and visist to westbank branch and calls that costs a lot of money. I dont know where/ who else to turn to. With no money for Lawyers i am stuck with a dept of a car i never had. After i placed an offer to buy a Nissan Np 200 with inspect a car through Westbank over a year ago. 12 HOURS later i cancelled deal with the dealer as my legal right to do so Now i am getting threatening lawyers from westbank of money that i owe them for a car i never collected from the dealer. Westbank went and repossed car from the dealershop and car was never registered in my name. Now i am told i need a lawyer to act on my behalf. As a common citizen who cannot afford lawyers fees am i now in the mercy of paying for a car i never bought? I am in tears and the stress and sickness that this has caused me is unbearable. I am crying for help!!! How can a huge company like wesbank make you pay for something you never owned?
