I am laying a complaint on behalf of my mother. She has a normal Access (savings) account. Earlier this year she made a transaction but the bank went offline and the transaction could not complete. Four months later, the money came off her account which left her SAVINGS account in a minus. How is this possible?? Now since beginning of August we have gone to the one branch a few times but they cannot explain this occurence. They have never come across this, yet it is on the system and happened to my mother. They could not assist and referred us to the ATM department in Modimolle. Apparently they keep telling us that the technical team is working on it, but it has been three weeks. They can also not give my mom the money back until they have resolved this investigation. PROBLEM IS: My mother is on pension and don't get much money every month. Now that her account is in a minus, as soon as she gets her pension, the bank is going to take her money, which will now result in her not having money to live on or pay rent. There is no urgency from the bank's side whatsoever as no one wants to take responsibility. Why must she suffer because of bank error!!! Hope you can assist her.
