SOS Assist (Roadside)
PLEASE EXPLAIN

Business & Finance

My bank account has been debited with approximately R100 since 2009 by SOS Assist. Earlier this year they phoned me to tell me I qualify for an upgrade (?), but I declined. This morning my car broke down on my way to work and I called their emergency number for the first time in 4 years. I explained my situation, was helped by the call centre and they informed me that someone will phone me back to let me know when they can tow me to the nearest auto repair service.
I got out of my car, left it by the road and went to get a coffee. Half an hour later I was phoned by SOS Assist, only to be informed that my membership was "pending"! They told me they can help me but at my own expense. I declined and phoned a tow truck, which charged me an arm and a leg to have my car towed to the nearest station.

Please explain to me how it is possible for someone to pay a monthly fee for four years and be contacted during that time BUT their membership is pending?! I want an explanation and I want all my monthly debit orders back - what did I pay for for nearly 48 months? This is unacceptable and I am lucky I didn't break down at night or on a busy road, otherwise I might not be alive now.
