Having been a Standard bank customer for more than twenty years I applied for a Petrol card linked to my current account on 27 July. I signed all documents and was advised that it would take seven to ten days, but I would be notified via SMS. My wife has a Nedbank account and she applied for a Nedbank Fuel Card on the same day at Nedbank Clearwater - she was told 4 days. I heard nothing for three weeks and decided to go back to the branch on Saturday 17 August to ask where the card is. I was advised that there was no record of my application for a garage card. To cut a long story short, I never received the card after a month; the only option was to re-apply. I walked into Nedbank at Town Square (even more convenient for me than Clearwater Mall as it is less than two kilometres from my home), told the consultant there of my tale of woe and applied for a Nedbank fuel card there and then. I received notification at 10h32 this morning (27 August) via SMS from Nedbank that my card is ready for collection at the Town Square branch of Nedbank. NOW THAT IS SERVICE! Service is the differentiator in business today, and Standard Bank, you just don't have it!
