First National Bank
Rushed & unwanted upgrade of card

Business & Finance

Today, I received a call from FNB, offering me a platinum card. They took many minutes to explain the benefits and the costs, and then after Is aid yes, that was it, I have a new card. After reviewing the costs, it's more than I was led to believe, and now apparently I'm already upgraded, after not having received any confirmation or having signed anything. I feel like FNB rushed me into a decision I didn't want to make, and now just saying yes over the phone has gotten me something I don't want to pay for.

I tried to get somewhere with the call centre, but I was dropped multiple times, while others told me I'm already upgraded, and will have to downgrade again. If this whole process was so easily set into motion, I would really appreciate it if my phone call 10 minutes later led to a similarly prompt reaction- but I've given up.

I'm very unhappy with the way this has been rushed, and as a young person with little experience in these matters, I wasn't afforded the ability to actually find out what I was being offered. It feels like they just want an extra few hundred rand out of me. Financial decisions are not to be made lightly- FNB don't seem to understand this.
