Waiting 3 weeks for Home Loan approval

Hi, we applied for Home Loan 3 weeks ago. We received feedback from 2 other banks last week already but still waiting for Standard Bank. How can a bank be so slow? I think the service is shocking. On query why it is taking so long, your answer was that you had to manually confirm my employment. What does that mean? Picking up the phone? I work for a big retail company that is almost 100 years old, with a proper reception and HR department. And I've worked there for more than 12 years. Really don't know why it is taking you so long.
