As a loyal and long time client of Standard Bank, when purchasing my new home it was only natural that I would apply for my new home loan with them. I have my existing bond with them as well as personal account etc. However, although my bond was approved, the interest rate granted to me, as a Standard Bank client, was HIGHER than any of the other banks where I applied. When I contacted Standard Bank in this regard, they claimed they would only review my interest rate if I provided them with proof from the other banking institutions. I was disgusted at this request but still complied and sent them the information. That was almost 2 weeks ago and still no response. I am appalled that a bank would treat one of its customers like this and will subsequently be moving all of my business to another bank, where I hopefully get treated better as one of their customers.
