Debt remains the same after 8 payments

Last year October I contacted African Bank call centre and I spoke to a client service agent about paying the amount that I owed them and wanting to pay off the amount on monthly basis via debit order. She assisted me and told me that I owed them R39, 000.00 and I made a debit order arrangement of R1000. 00 per month, payment commencing 1 November 2012. I have made sure that I stick to the arrangement and making payments regularly. I have recently contacted them to find out how much I owe them as they don't send me any statements and I was shock to find out that there has not been any changes in the amount owed after 8 payments. I was told that I still owe them R39, 000.00, I have tried to sort this matter by going directly to the branch which was useless, called the client service centre and I also did not get any answers. I have wasted money and time calling them wanting to get answers about this problem and sorting out this matter. A warning to others, "DO NOT EVER TAKE OR ASK FOR A LOAN FROM AFRICAN BANK". I am in predicament right now as I don't know how to sort this problem out, I am distraught and despondent at this point. I don't know where to turn to and get help.
