Declined Insurance Claim

Hi, we logged a complaint (Ref : 2403164) and finally after months an assessor came to look at the property. Now ABSA claims they rejecting the insurance claim due to lack of owner maintenance. Surely this is unacceptable!!! What does one pay insurance premiums for?? Isn't that to cover for unforseen damages to property. A crack in the ceiling was certainly not owner inflicted. I'm not sure what the quote given by the supplier reflected to what we requested to be covered under insurance. We are seriously considering changing insurers.
