Cancellation of Endowment Policy

I just called momentum in order to find out how to cancel/surrender my 5 endowment policy as i am in the 2nd year of paying for it. Only to be told my unit trust endowment policy is and insurance policy and i cant cancel it unless my 5 years are up. Since when does a unit trust policy become an insurance policy and fall under the same groupings. Just to this gentlemen Darryn Billings who's only answer was that is what the database says. I mean this is ridiculas.
