Last year Standard Bank Newcastle split into three sections. Was told that was to IMPROVE the banks customer service. Yesterday's experience was enough to prove that that is a fallacy. Years ago transferred money from our bank account to a UK bank account & the process took on -10 minutes with efficiency expected. Jackie always filled in the forms and we signed, money transferred speedily. Yesterday, arrived at foreign exchange counter, was open for business with NO ONE in attendance. After awhile we asked is this counter open, reply yes. Apology the teller on the phone, apology she is in the back & coming, we don't know where she is, to finally the arrival of Pinky 20 minutes later. She handed us forms & said fill them in. Forms like greek. Pinky refused to help, asked another bank staff members to assist. She not sure either & kept asking Pinky for assistance. Enough to make your clients very angry. The bank manager arrived & apologized for the poor service but the wait was another 1/2 hour & on handing in the forms Pinky no apology no swift code can't help, left knowing the transfer would not be done. Is this new staff trained? Is Standard Bank happy with this kind of service?
