In January 2013, I made a payment into an account that I later realised was a bank account. I then called Standard bank to request a reversal on the payment. I understood the terms and conditions including the charge of R250.00 for the request. Unfortunately they were unable to retrieve the money as the account had been cleaned out. I understood this risk and it was just unfortunate that the got away with my money. I thanked Standard Bank for trying their best and that was that.
Today, being the 19th of July, my Reversal Fee of R250.00 for that request in January has finally come off my account. I am liable for the charge and I would happily pay it, but my concern is, why it only came off my account now? I understand these charges are sometimes done in batches, but what trouble and long lines would I have to stand in, if by some chance I had no money in my account today and the charge bounced. I would get additional charges for insufficient funds and if you think about it... it's not really my fault. I love my bank and would never change, but just thought you guys should know that this causes very unhappy clients. Other than that - Keep up the good work!!
