No one can tell me the credit card machine fees

Business & Finance

I opened a new banking account at FNB Lifestyle today. The consultant processed all the document etc without problems. I wanted to add a credit card machine, for the additional monthly fee of R275. I then enquired what the commission rates would be per transaction based on the type of card (debit or credit) use. She contacted the card division, they could only tell me it's between 1-7%, but not how much it would be. They then said I must first apply then a consultant will come to my office and then the consultant will decide the commission rates! They could not say based on which criteria these rates are done or what I would pay, only that I must first apply. How can I apply for something when I don't know how much it will cost and then have a consultant come to office and decide - based on some obscure criteria - how much they would charge me??? This is not transparent, not acceptable and does not protect me as the consumer! On my personal banking credit card I also enquired about a debt protection fee that was deducted, but was told I applied for this additional fee, which is absolute rubbish. I never applied for or agreed to any additional services and this needs to be rectified!!
