I logged a claim with Auto and General to repair chips on two of my car doors. They sent me for a quote and rejected it because it was over the cover amount by R314. I said that I would pay the difference in but they would not accept it. They won't let you only repair one door at a time and do the other later as they will reject the second door when the claim comes in as "they would already be aware" of the problem. The only option now for me, due to their pathetic bureaucratic system, is to take time off work run around and get at least 2 quotes which must be cheaper (do their work) and resubmit it - which would cost more than the R314. If the quotes are not cheaper it will be submitted to "Management" to decide if they will pay for the it at the original quoted amount. If not, I'll have to fork out the money out of my own pockets. Pathetic little policies and so called "conditions". Your hand are tied. Why have insurance for 5 year put in your first claim and be treated this way? In my eyes it's just a money making wraquet. When someone claims just tell them "we have terms and conditions" or "procedures".
