WHERE R MY E STATEMENTS & BANK DOES NOT CALL BACK

Yesterday i got a call from absa hartbeespoort dam and the lady mentione that all my paper statements are sitting at the bank - What must they do? i mentioned that i requested that they be emailed to me when i opened the acc and that i am not receiving at all. the lady mentioned that she was not sure and that she would call back later ; which never happened. i also checked online and it my statements are ticked to be sent by email.
1. why are they not been emailed to me?
2.why are many months of paper statement copies sitting at my branch, and only now i get a call to collect?
3. why did the lady mention that she would sort and call back, when she did not?
