How Hard is it to Bank a cheque

My wife Recieved an overseas cheque in Australian dollars, absa refuse to bank into her south african account. Why is it so impossible to do anything in this country, you always have to battle with people to assist you. You try and explain your story but you get the usual, [we can't, nothing we can do, sorry we can't assist you]. Amazes me when in the UK or OZ they seem to assist and help, maybe we not at that level of service as yet or will never reach it, maybe the standards of Absa are poor, sorry are poo
