My mother passed away in April 05. I went to FNB with all required documents at the beginning of May. I submitted all the document and the lady at the branch sent them through to Late Estate Department and they told me it will take 48 hours but it was done. I went back after a week and the lady called the Department and they said that they have a badlock as soon as everything is fine they will put it as "Agent closure" and I will receive the money. I waited for 3 weeks until today (20/06/2013) where I went back and the lady at the branch called them again and to my surprise the call center lady said "the account hasn't been closed, they received all required documents and she doesn't know why it hasn't been closed".

I had to wait for almost 2 months for a process which was suppose to take 48 hours and there is no explanation why it was this way. This just shows to me that the people in this department are not doing their job and they don't value me as the customer.

I have been thinking of opening FNB account but with this experience, it makes me think that should I pass away have this acc, my wife will struggle to get the money from the account and the will be no explanation
