Early termination fee

When taking out finance on my car I had heard that banks charge 'early termination fees' so I specifically asked about it (we were at Tom Campher motors in Auckland Park) My husband and father were both with me - and we were told that even if we settled the amount the very next day we would not be charged. So imagine my surprise when I wanted to settle the account and was charged R1400 early termination fee PLUS R633 interest for the 8 days that the settlement amount was valid for! They charge you interest irrespective of whether you pay the settlement amount on day 1 of the quote or day 8! When i called to query the R2000 extra that I had been charged I was told to look at section 9 of the fine print in my contract and I was supposed to give them 90 days warning before settling the account, this was obviously not mentioned when I called for the settlement amount!!! SUCH shocking service - DO NOT USE WESBANK!!!
