I recently switched banks and because of this I had to switch my debit orders. The bank I am switching to will switch your debit orders for you and because this seemed much easier than me doing it myself, I utilised this option. The bank contacted Auto and General and arranged to switch the debit order. Except things went horribly wrong...

I was informed by the bank that the debit order had been switched to the 03/06/2013 instead of 30/06/2013... this seemed like a typing error to me but the bank assured me there would be no problems with the debit order as this is the date that auto and general had provided as the debit order date even though it is not my usual debit order date. However, on the 30th May 2013 my usual debit order went off on my old account. Then on the 3rd of June 2013, the same debit order went off my new account. So now I have paid my insurance premium twice this month!!! I emailed the customer services department but I have still not gotten a reply. I would like a refund but seems like Auto and General are quick to get you to sign a policy but their after sales service is quite lacking...
