I have been a client of Absa for 13 years and am disgusted with the support received. I have recently made the decision to go under debt review. I called into the Platinum line to try to get some help with stopping debit orders on my account and was simply told it is my problem to cancel these with the suppliers and nothing could be done. The agent on the line did not even take my account number.
I then went into the brach on Saturday morning at the first chance I hadp. Again, nothing that could be done other than to close the account, but I had to pay in money first due to unpaid fees from the day before which I was trying to prevent in the first place. Needless to say, i could not pay this R249 to close the account so "nothing could be done". I now sit with even further fees which i cannot pay, and again could have been avoided. To make a situation worse, my company paid a fuel claim into the account by error, obviously this has been swallowed by these fees and I am now stuck minus being able to travel to work for half the month.
This is realy disgusting quite honestly. Worse is Absa card was notified with form 17.1 on 27 May of my situation. very disappointed. New bank now.
