I have had 2 problems with Standard Bank over the last 2 weeks. Problem 1 - I am registered on My Updates to receive sms notification of activity on my accounts. For the last 2 weeks I have not received any notifications of activity on my credit card notwithstanding that the card has been used at least twice a day. I have phoned the My Updates call centre 20 times, visited Flora Centre Branch 3 times and Clearwater Branch 3 times but as of today 23 May, the problem has not been resolved. Problem 2 - I was upgraded from a blue card to a gold card (expiry 2017) this month and was advised that I could use the new card with immediate effect. However, this was not the case. After 4 embarrassing attempts to use the new card each merchant received message "card expired". I have sent 2 "disappointed" emails to Standard Bank from their website and again they have not had the decency or professionalism to respond. I have been banking with Standard for the last 30 years and have 5 active accounts with the bank one of which is a fairly large investment. However, I am now considering moving to FNB. Why aren't these problems escalated to a higher level?
