On 17 April 2013 my wife passed away tragically in a motorvehicle accident. I have life insurance on my and my wife's name for many years now. On 30 April 2013 I went to ABSA in Ballito where I handed in all the relevant documentation for the claim. On 06 May 2013 I phoned to follow up and was informed that my claim was received and I should receive a response soon, and that it would take 14 days to finalise the claim. Today 17 May 2013 I phoned again as I still haven't received any feedback from ABSA just to be informed that the documentation was sent to the wrong section, and that it was only with the correct department now. This is strange as I was informed on the 6th that all was in order. This time I was informed that it would take 30 days to investigate the claim. Now I still have to wait for a response from someone from ABSA, I have no assurance that the claim is being dealt with correctly, and I don't know how long it will take to process the claim. It is bad enough to be going through the trauma of loosing my wife, and now I have to deal with insensitive and incompetent people in your claims department.
