Unauthorised change made to account

Last month, I filled up my tank, and when I attempted to swipe my debit card to pay, my transaction was declined. Embarrassed, and knowing I had my entire savings balance in my account, I paid with my credit card.

When I called Standard Bank, I was informed that my savings account had been changed to a cheque account. This was done without my permission. It angers me that I have been banking with Standard Bank for many years, I have been loyal to them when everyone I know has been telling me to change to another bank, and they think it is acceptable to make changes to my accounts without informing me and without obtaining my permission.

I have also been to my main branch, Vangate Mall. On that day, their facilities were off line, so they could not help me. Nobody was able to apologise to me and accept that making changes to my account is wrong, and nobody could make a note to change it later, or make a formal appointment for me to speak to the manager or a consultant.

I have lost all faith in Standard Bank, since they think its acceptable to have complete disregard for my personal needs and preferences.

I will never defend their name again. They have lost a loyal customer.
