Motor Insurance treated as Life Insurance

We were involved in an accident on 12 Novr 2011. My husband and I were travelling on the R554 to Alberton when this incident happened. My husband passed away on the scene and I was hospitalised both feet broken. In Jan 2012 I was discharged and could start following up on these matter. I have been in contact with Hollard since then and have been told that the claim will not be finalised until Post Mortem report has been received. This could take up to 5 years according to the police. I was contacted by Frans In March 2013 regarding my vehicle standing at the salvage yard 1yr late. When you take insurance for your vehicle you expect to be paid for the vehicle and not depending on the persons condition. I have been sent from pillar to post since the accident happened and to date have not received any solution. I have witness statements stating the fact that the accident was not our fault and yet this does not make a difference. Everybody I speak to can't understand why is the post-mortem report so import if this is not life insurance. I am still recovering from my injuries and it frustrates me that I have to suffer financially and emotionally for a short term insurance claim.
