I have had vehicle and assest finance with ABSA for almost 3 years, last month I recieved a letter stating that I need to send proof that I have insurance or ABSA will automatically attached insurance.

Now, firstly I have had the same insurance from the day I took delivery of the vehicle, so I dont feel I need to prove that to ABSA, however I did my part and requested the documents from my insurer, which I forwared to ABSA via the email address they provided on the letter.

Secondly, the letter they sent was dated three weeks prior to delivery to my home address and the letter stated I only have 30 days to provide proof, which is Ridiculous.

Regardless of the absolute rubbish thus far, I sent the documents before the 30 day WARNING period. To my suprise I recieved two smses stating my account is in arrears, which I know is not the case!

I called the call centre number provided on the sms and the on the other end said she cant even check if they have recieved the email!

I have now got an arrears amount on my account for an insurance premium I never agreed to, I will be taking this to the ombudsman on Monday, and I will never make use of Absa and thier again!
