I received a sms last month requiring me to provide proof of insurance for my vehicle that is financed by Absa. I sent the proof of insurance through last month as requested and then got a call two days later to ask re the proof of insurance. I advised that i have sent it through and on the 26th my debit order came off for a higher amount that the usual as Absa has added a insurance fee even though the proof of insurance was submitted in time. I then got a call tot say it was a error and that they will reverse the money which to date has not been done. Then i got a call yeserday to say my installment is in arrears. This is utter nonsense and i expect this to now be rectified. It is pure incompetence of Absa to continually harass me for payment for insurance they added even though i provided proof of insurance when requested. I want this error rectified by 12 tomorrow otherwise i will go to the banking ombudsman as well as the consumer council as it is unethical for Absa to make me pay for insurance if i am already covered and i have not signed for their insurance so it is to deduct a premium off my account.
