I had to verify my child's bank account today. Had tried a few times previously but was always told I needed an outstanding document or that my 10yr old child had to verify it himself. Today I was told they would not help me because my proof of residence did not have my full initials on. This was this same proof I took on other occasions and was not told they could not use it. Had to go back home for a different proof of residence. I then tried to withdraw the money in the account. The teller seemed not in a mood to help me. I requested to withdraw R3300 but she said that I needed to leave R50 to keep the account open. I changed the amount on the withdrawal slip to R3250. She took it upon herself to only give R2950, leaving R300 in the account. I was just to tired for more arguments with absa staff, as I had spent more than 1 and a half hrs trying to verify a savings account. I am not very happy with the service. Some staff members seem very reluctant to help with client problems.
