I had closed my credit card on 12.04.2013. On 02.05.2013 a stop order went off on my cheque account for an amount of R25 to the closed credit card. I called the call centre to query this on 3.05.13. I spoke to Zaheed Yusuf & had 2 specific instructions: 1 reverse the R25 charge & 2. Ensure that the stop order is cancelled so that I do not have to call again to address this the next month. It should be noted that I have gone through a 180 day history of transactions on my account and this is the first instance of a transaction like this going off on my account. On 08.05.2013, an amount of R24.96 was transferred back into my account. What did standard bank charge me 3 cents for??
On the surface, the problem seems to be an inefficient credit card closing process. I also question the error resolution process for this. I am disgusted & unhappy at being charged for a bank error & further more quite concerned that the bank transferred money out of my account without my permission & then only refunded part of the charge. Please can someone knowledgeable provide an explanation for this.
