First National Bank
Card Authorisation still not cancelled

Business & Finance

It all started when I made a purchase at an online store with my life start cheque mastercard. The store authorised the amount on my account, I received an sms that the money was reserved for the store, all was well. The next day, I received another sms that there was insufficient funds in my account to complete the purchase for the same store. Which I thought was really weird, because it was authorised. It seems it tried to take the money from my account rather than the authorised amount.

The store thought this was really weird. After some time, thinking that the authorisation hold will be released, I changed my mind and told the store to please cancel the order and the authorisation. It has been more than a week and the money is still authorised. I can't use the money and I would really like it to not be authorised anymore. I have contacted FNB, but they told me I should sort it out with the merchant. I think the problem is with my bank. Because, according to the merchant this is the first time it is acting so strangely and they cancelled the authorisation on their end.

Thanks. I would prefer if you contact me via email, because I attend classes throughout the day.
