We opened a STANLIB account and were assisted by Alice. I wanted to have signing powers over my niece's account, as I am the one managing it in terms of putting in deposits and ensuring her that she has got enough money for her studies (I'm her guardian). I gave Alice all my documents. I called STANLIB requesting for the statement and I was told I do not have signing powers. I called Alice and she told me that is nonsense, I must tell them to read the notes. I called STANLIB again, told me same story. I told them to liaise with STD Bank and sort this matter out. I called STANLIB again 2weeks back, assuming they had resolved the issue, and spoke to Benedicta. She told me I dont have signing powers. I called Alice, she told me to call Benedicta and tell her to read 'history note no.5'. I told Alice to phone that Benedicta as Iam tired of this nonsense. That's pathetic! I feel very embarassed to think tat I am even banking with STD bank. Is that the best way to treat their client? Can somebody tell if I have signing powers on that account or not. And they better fix it, as I am not going to the bank again to do the same thing. Im not dumb!
