Outsurance
Outsurance is not flexible

Business & Finance

I have life cover with outsurance. I am in the process of changing jobs so I called them on the 30 April to request a change in debit order date. My D/O date was the 20th initially and I want it changed to the 31st. They say this can't be done unless I pay a pro rated fee on the 20th of May. I explained to them that the whole purpose of changing the debit order date is because there will be no funds on my account on the 20th. They told me that if I don't pay the pro rata on the 20th then I will not be covered from the 20st to the 30th, I advised them that I am willing to take that risk but they would rather I cancel the policy. I feel that this is a breach of the contract because the contract stipulates that, "if the premium is not paid on the payment date you have a 15 day grace period". The people I spoke to did not say this, I had to refer back to contract, they just made it look as if my only option was to cancel. The contract further states, 'your facility will be automatically cancelled when your monthly premiums are not paid for two consecutive months", this was also not revealed by the agents. I'm not trying to skip payment I'm just moving the date by 10 days!!!
