Universal Exhibition cancelled and failed refund

In, April Roger, of Universal Exhibitors, sent a Representative to my Company offering an Exhibition "Fin Fest" 25th to 26th July. We accepted and duly paid our deposit of R3000.00 and he was extremely pushy about the deposit and threatened me that I will loose prime position. The balance due 25th June. I was about to make the balance of payment and decided to email his book keeper and him Only find out that the "finfest" had been cancelled on that exact date of 24th June but he had failed to inform me. I would have paid the balance had I not decided to email them?
He told my Secretary we can wait in the Q for the refund then promised by husband the refund last week and now he does not answer his phone! I have bad feeling this is a bogus company? As anyone else had dealings with this man?
