SAA offering no assistance once tickets been paid

I was a flight SA264 from Johannesburg to Munich on 21/4/2013, with an onward connection from Munich to Stockholm, Sweden. At check in I was advised that no boarding pass was available for the Stockholm flight but would be issued in Munich. Later on the flight I discover that all Lufthansa flights were cancelled and we were advised to report to the local SAA staff at Munich airport who assist us with new flights.
Upon arrival there were 2 SAA staff member who we approached to determine our next flight. We were advised that it was not SAA's responsibility and the best would be to leave the airport and find some form of accommodation. When I asked how we would know when our next flight out was they just said we can return at some stage the next day and talk to Lufthansa.
Just to clarify this was a codeshare flight that I booked and payed at SAA, so accrding to me it's SAA's responsibility
Although SAA does not have control over Lufthansa strikes they could have been more helpful, maybe even taking passengers contact numbers to try and assist with new flight bookings, if it wasn't for my travel agent I would have been stuck.
SAA responded today saying it's not their problem
