Can't cancel contract

I was given a voucher to attend a presentation 8 years ago. I went to the presentation, and the salesperson was very smooth. I told him I had just lost my husband 3 weeks ago and was not sure if I should be making a financial decision to buy in. He told me I could cancel at any time.

The contract was put into my personal name, but I was unable to pay the deposit, so he said I could put it into my company name, which I did. He did not explain that I wouldn't be able to cancel when it was in a company name.

When I booked a holiday in Dubai, I arrived and there was no booking in my name. I called the company, and they fixed it about 2 hours later. There was basically no discounted price at all.

I sent an email later to say I wanted to cancel, and they said I couldn't because it was in a company name, but they would put it "on hold" and I didn't need to continue payment as long as I didn't use it. This was in 2019.

Now they are threatening to hand me over in 2024. Surely that's against the Consumer Act? They have been totally unhelpful and rude.
