Incorrect Notifications resulting in missed bus

We booked a ticket from Mbay to Cape Town. Early morning on the day of departure the passenger received an sms notification that the bus would be delayed by one and a half hour. He later received an sms to confirm that the bus was being repaired in PE. When he went to the busstop half an hour before the new departure time, the bus never showed. He went to the ticket office who said that he should just wait Citiliner will send an sms to confirm the new arrival time. He left after an hour. That afternoon at almost four o'clock he received an sms stating that the previous sms's was incorrect. He went to the bus stop but had the bus come and gone. Citiliner's "Customer Care" line said I should write an e-mail stating what had happened and to request a refund. I've had no response to my e-mails. A refund is actually a drop in the bucket, what about the costs incurred in phoning their customer care line numerous times on that specific day, having to hold on and on and subsequently our fuel costs in having to take the gentlement through to Cape Town ourselves! Pathetic - even if an apology was offered, no amount of apologies can make the deed undone.
