Double transaction on American Express Card

After booking and paying for six flights (on two different airlines) online through travelstart with my American Express credit card, my account reflected what appeared to be a duplicate transaction (double authorisation) one one of the codes.

On enquiring with Tavelstart, I was informed that this was an issue between the airline (who they apparently give the credit card details to (to make the transaction themselves), and American express. They said they would contact the airline, but my best bet was to dispute directly with American express.

On following up with Amex however, they confirmed all transactions were done by the same merchant (some random name "Air Carriers"). From the amount I deduced the applicable airline was Rwandair, but they confirmed that they dont process American Express, and as the booking was done online, Travelstart was responsible.

To date I have still not uncovered who exactly did the transaction or eventually received the funds, but Amex's dispute process can take up to 45 days, and Travelstart are taking no responsibility for the R4600 I am currently out of pocket.

Please take ownership, I am on holiday in three weeks, and my credit card is maxed!
