Changing of flight a nightmare & unknown costs

I have a friend that booked a return flight for this weekend to JHB and noticed that she had booked the flight up for the Thursday instead of the Friday. She knew there would be a fee to pay (Ie the difference of the tickets), and upon booking the new flight, was willing to pay the R500 and something displayed. Kulula subtracted R3000 from her account!!! The call centre is pathetic and she was put on hold so much that her airtime cut off twice and she is not able to communicate with one person or someone of authority or helpful! Now she has UPGRADED her flight and the booking for Sunday back down did not even change! Upgrade to what exactly?!? Now they only offer her back the difference between the fares of the new flight back and nothing for the flight up! The flight & time did not even change on the Sunday!!! I havent used Kulula in a while & I am a frequent traveller and will surely not again after seeing my friend in this emotional state, not to mention the amount of money she has lost - more than twice of the original amount!!! Oh and the best part - refunds take 6 - 8 weeks, are you joking, how is she going to get through this month financially??? I am disgusted
