Flight Centre
HIDDEN SERVICE FEE - 10 to 20% markup on prices

Traveling & Tourism

Next time you walk into a Flight Centre ask them whether they charge a SERVICE FEE for doing your booking. I discovered that they charge anything between a whopping 10% and 20% (to my knowledge) for service without saying a word to you. So if they quote you a ticket of R10, 000, it probably really costs between R8, 300 and R9, 000 online. A whopping service fee of possibly R1, 000-1, 700! This is never mentioned to the unsuspecting customer, nor does it appear anywhere on the documentation. Its clear to me the "Price Beat" policy is there to try and fool customers into believing they are getting the cheapest price. THEY ARE NOT. Also, many airlines allow for one free change in the date of your return ticket. Going through the Flight Centre means you qualify for a R700 fee everytime, even the first. There are reports about "Good service". If I was receiving that amount of cash, I would be smiling and trying my best too. They don't own up to mistakes, and definately don't refund, in my experience. I was short-changed R2500!! And when people report and complain, it seems they copy paste a message "We are looking into it and will revert back to you". Too busy earning Service fees to care??
