Rikki's Taxi
Wrongful quote and illegal driving experience

On friday 28 june we booked a taxi, many hours in advance, to go from boston to fairview wine estate at 18:30. The quote given was R900 return, to which we agreed. The taxi arrived 15min late. The driver did not know where to go, and was under the impression that we wanted to somewhere in Durbanville. We corrected him that Fairview wine estate is in fact near Paarl. He said that we would have to give him directions. En route in belleville and the N1, the driver made multiple phone calls (not using the radio communication, that was functional as far as we could hear), during which time he would shift gears with the left hand, steer with his right elbow, swerving. I phoned the callcentre to stress my concern, and the lady assured me that she would sort it out, but also informed me our quote had changed now to double the price. I protested, she "phoned the manager" and said that R1200 is the best they could do. the driver was radioed, after which he contineud to make phone calls. I phoned callcentre again and insisted to speak to the manager, the lady said that the manager is not in. I insisted to be phoned back with reply as to what will be done to assure our safety, still waiting.
